The Shaker Chair J39 was designed by Børge Mogensen while he was the head of the furniture department at F.D.B. The characteristic of the Shaker style is the thin backrest arranged in a ladder-like fashion. Børge Mogensen applied a design treatment using a large single board, achieving a more refined and beautiful proportion. The seat at that time was made of straw cord, but it was later changed to paper cord. Even after more than 60 years since its introduction in 1944, the J39 continues to be a bestseller and is considered a masterpiece alongside the Wishbone Chair. The E-comfort Shaker Chair is made with a backrest formed from three single molded pieces. Additionally, the specifications have been updated, with a thicker backrest for increased strength.
